NEW LAND!

Chris and I have been casually looking for land for over a year now.  We weren't able to find exactly what we wanted until some friends of ours mentioned that they had bought 10 acres on High Rock Road, which is only a mile from where we live now.  There were two additional lots for sale, but very little was posted about them.  Chris and I decided to walk both properties a few times in the late spring/early summer and loved the trees and the creeks on the middle property.  Although it had many challenges with getting a driveway cut in and we weren't sure of how well it would perc, we decided to make an contingent offer in July.  Our final offer was accepted on Thursday, August 4th.  Long story short, we had Alan Clapp do the perc test and found out that there was only one usable Type A perc site at the rear of the property and one Type B site where we wanted to build the house.  My uncle Ronnie walked the land with us and we decided to adjust our offer.  The final, FINAL offer was accepted mid-September and we closed on Thursday, September 22nd.

Chris began cutting in a driveway on Saturday, October 1st.  (Allie helped, too!) It was a great day to be outdoors.  We are trying our best to work around all the beautiful beech trees and do most of the work ourselves.  We are so excited!!

23 Weeks!

We had another doctor's appointment on Friday (9/9).  I measured/weighed and we heard the heartbeat again.  Everyone is healthy and growing.  I have gained between 6-10 pounds and the baby is now the size of a large mango (over a pound).  She is moving the most at night, but I feel her in the morning and throughout the day, as well.  I went to my first children's consignment sale at Mt. Pleasant this week/weekend.  I volunteered to help sort and hang clothes on Tuesday after work so I could attend the preview sale on Thursday evening.  Chris met me at 6pm and we bought some of her first items at a great price:
Pack-N-Play (for the lake) $12
Bumbo Seat ($2)
Pink, Foldable Toy Chest ($5)
Eddie Bauer Shopping Cart Cover ($6)
Bath Tub ($6)
Boppy Pillow ($7) and Slip Cover ($6)
Large Black/Pink poke-a-dotted Diaper Bag ($4)
We ate at my Grandma Overbey's afterward and were excited to tell everyone what we found.  I went back early on Saturday for the 1/2 price sale.  I bought about 20 nice outfits, 2 hooded towels/wash mitten, bottle holder, a car seat protector, 5 new receiving blankets and 1 brand new thermal blanket for only $33.  I can get into this!
Proudly, I went back home and showed Chris my selections.  We went to Chick-Fil-A in Burlington to have breakfast and then over to Target to register.  We ended up in Greensboro at Babies-R-Us and were completely overwhelmed with all that comes with a baby.  Exhausted and she is not even here yet!

Allie Playing in the Pond

We decided to hang around the house for Labor Day this year.  We were able to clean out the nursery and pick out the paint color (green) that Saturday.  We also took Allie to the neighbor's pond on Saturday to see if she would get in and swim.  She did and loved it!  We didn't think we were going to be able to get her out and back home.  My mom and dad came over Sunday afternoon.  Mom and I painted, while Chris and my dad walked the land we are looking at buying.  Allie went missing for a little while on Sunday and Monday.  We discovered she had been back in the pond when she came back soaking wet!

These are some pictures from this next weekend.  We registered at Target and Babies-R-Us most of the day on Saturday, but promised Allie we would take her to the pond when we got back home.  At 7 months she still needs lots of training, but she is such a smart dog.

21 Weeks!

21 Weeks on my 28th Birthday!

19 Weeks...It's a GIRL!!!

20 Weeks!
Chris and I had another ultrasound appointment on Thursday, August 11th at 11:00am.  I was so excited that whole morning at work and couldn't wait to find out what we were having.  The technician took various measurements and pictures.  The baby was on it's stomach so she had to tap my belly and I had to flip over onto my side a few times to get it to move in the correct position.  Finally, she said, "How about a little GIRL?!!"  I looked at Chris and we both smiled.  I said, "Are you sure?  How do you know?"  She explained the black area on the screen and we were thrilled!  We wanted to do something super creative to tell our parents, but got too impatient and just called them that evening.  My mom said that she had guessed right and that she "liked little girls!"  This will be their 3rd granddaughter...4th grandchild.  Chris' parents were excited, as well.  She will be their 1st grandchild.  I was overwhelmed by all the phone calls, text messages, and posts on Facebook from all of our friends and family.  What an exciting day!  Now its time to come up with a name and get the nursery ready!!!

Allie's 1st Seadoo Ride!

We took Allie to the lake for the 4th of July.  At 5 months, she still isn't too thrilled about the water, but she seemed to like riding on the Seadoo with Chris.  She loved playing with the neighborhood dogs, Oreo, Rascal, and Puddles, and spent most of the day on Monday recovering from such a busy weekend.  She discovered the fish this visit, as well.  She actually fell in the water a couple of times watching them swim near the dock.  Hopefully, she will learn to like the water soon!

Baby Breedlove at 12 Weeks!!

Chris and I were amazed at how much the baby has developed since our first ultrasound at 7 weeks!  It was really moving around during this visit and the technician said she was able to get "textbook" images and measurements.  The heart rate was 149 bpm this time, down from 180 bpm previously.  The Chinese Pregnancy Calendar says we are having a boy, but we haven't had any real premonitions yet.  All I know is that I am thankful to be feeling more energized now that I am in my 2nd trimester and the baby seems to be healthy and happy.

Chris' Race (June 17, 2011)

Chris loves racing and does so every Friday night at Ace Speedway.  He drives the # 77 in the Mini Stock division.  I forgot the video camera this night so I had to record it using my phone.  I only have the beginning laps because his ignition (or something, I don't know?) messed up during the race.  Either way, I am so proud of him!!!
*Note:  Sometimes watching the fans is more entertaining than the racing.  Check out the guy to the right with his shirt off and my cousins giving each other high fives!!

Allie playing with a giant soccer ball!

As I was cleaning out my classroom I found this inflatable soccer ball and thought Allie would LOVE it!  Of course she did and eventually the ball had to be trashed.  She is a little over 4 months in this video and already 30+ pounds.
